The Colorado-based medical relief organization Project C.U.R.E. has been providing aid to Uzbekistan since the 1990s. It is currently preparing to ship over $5 million worth of equipment and supplies to hospitals and communities in Karakalpakstan, which has been deeply affected by the drying of the Aral Sea. This marks the third major aid delivery to this region. At the fundraising event at the Uzbekistan Embassy in Washington, VOA talked with Project C.U.R.E. CEO and President Douglas Jackson about the driving factors behind this assistance.
